I would like to wish everyone all the best for 2012, may this be the year when your dreams come true.

Been the start of a new year I can't help but reflect on our previous creations.

 I've given myself the difficult task of selecting three of my favourite pieces.

I hope you enjoy looking as much as we enjoyed making.

Created from recycled oak barrel staves, crafted using all hand tools.

As a maker very challenging and rewarding to create.

Amazing fiddleback in the top and an overall, elegant design.

Recycled French Oak Barrel Sideboard.

Epic in length at 6m long passing through a living room and a dining room.

Sensational grain with many warm, rich tones.

 Plus the sideboard doubles as a fun adventure for children to explore.

Blackwood dining table incorporating light and dark tones of blackwood to create a beautiful contrast. Hand finished Mortise and tenon joints for the frame construction.

Reclaimed Western Red Cedar Kitchen Spice Boxes (2 available)

Inspired by a traditional shaker design.

Lovingly handcrafted and assembled using brass pins

 The lid measures 150mm Long x 115mm Wide x 87mm High

Internal measurements are 106mm long x 70 mm wide x 68mm deep.

Note the gorgeous little handmade dowel hinge.

 Hand finished with a fine wire brush before been hand waxed creates this beautiful weathered texture.

Shaker style wall boxes. ( 2 Available ) 

Stylishly crafted by hand with flowing lines and smooth contours. Very elegant.

Hang them in the kitchen for letters etc.

 The internal measurements are 280mm long x 105mm wide x 90mm deep.

 They are created from recycled Tasmanian Oak floorboards. 

 Lovingly fine sanded before been waxed by hand to an ultra smooth finish.

The wax brings out this warm honey colour in the oak.

Vintage Industrial Workbench / Dining Table

Our latest piece, an Industrial workbench inspired dining table.

Seats 8- 10 people.

The legs and cross bracing are reclaimed hardwood house framing.

We've left the original weathered patterns on the legs.
         

  We've retrieved the design from one of our ideas in an old sketch book.

The photo below is almost identical to the original design sketch.

With the cross bracing been a visual feature, enabling plenty of leg room and making the table very stable. 

  We've used recycled oregon beams for the bench top and have retained as much of the character and history of the timber as possible.

                                               

This beautiful weathered table is constructed using hand finished rebate joints through out.

The table has been sanded to a smooth velvety finish. Lovely.

Oiling Recycled Oak

 Watching the sunset over the Gembrook hills after a day of fine sanding and polishing.

The first coat of oil has really brought out the life and warmth in the french oak sideboard.

The timber has such a lovely honey coloured hue.

The contrast of the light and dark with the golden flecks throughout the timber amaze me, you could just look at it forever and still spot character you hadn't noticed before.

The Kallista Kitchen

The clients brief for this kitchen design was classic with simple, clean lines.

We've used a plain framed door, laminate bench tops with fine elements of recycled Tasmanian oak throughout.

The framed doors have been hand painted in a classic cream. The technique of hand painting gives the doors a lovely texture and replicates an older style of finishing.

The kitchen features a beautiful handmade plate rack created out of recycled Tasmanian Oak machined with a very fine moulding.

The clients brief included that she would like a rack made to display her cool old rolling pins.

 The top of the mantlepiece features a nice thick slab of timber to match the other highlights.

All of the details in this kitchen, the hand painted panel doors, the carefully chosen door and drawer pulls, the use of timber for the mantle, the leadblight panels and the elegant display racks combine to create a very unique and beautiful piece of joinery.
